BASIC Reframe 05 role

This is lesson 5 in Basic Reframe

[form] BASIC REFRAME lesson 5 FRAMES used structurally to capture an issue ROLES of Consumer and Supplier Your Name please: [text,r_name,30] Email: [text,r_email,30] ANALYSIS With analysis, you take the issue up to the next stage by spotting how the issue was structured in terms of Role, Priorities and Change. These three interactive frames of reference can map almost any belief we hold. Structurally it can accommodate up to 64 different outcomes. The major upsetting ideas or beliefs (apart from the different versions they develop or generate) are usually about: • Wanting things to be easy or comfortable • Getting approval from our Significant Others • Things being done “right” In each of these we are wanting to receive or give something that is important and possibly urgent for us, and about us wanting to work change for our satisfaction or have things remain stable as in no change. • Role: This is about you as giver or receiver, supplier or consumer in terms of what you do or do not get when compared to what you want or desire. Upsets occur when we’re in the role of consumer or supplier and our desired object (things) or service (actions) are blocked. • Change: This is about our expecting Change as in something New, Spontaneous, Unusual, Different, OR, about No Change as in something Old, Predictable, Usual, Same. How we handle change or non-change when our expectations are unmet forms the core of our upset. • Priority: This is about your values and beliefs in terms of what’s important to you, and in terms of your ability to assess reality by determining just how urgent the issue is for you. This is the evaluation frame of reference where the urgency and importance of your role outcome is assigned which also influences what kind of change or non-change you expect. ROLE FRAME: the GIVING and RECEIVING An activating event is called that because it is the event that began your UPSET. Giving and Getting is about what you receive or do not receive, what you give or do not give. This is your role as receiver (or consumer) or giver (or supplier). A receiver initiates by inviting or asking. A supplier initiates by responding to an invitation or a perceived need. In connection with your IMPACT sentence, you identify the aspect of the issue that is most upsetting to you (the worst outcome). The Desire or Wanting • It is about me wanting to receive something (consume) • It is about me NOT wanting to receive something (consume) • It is about me wanting to give something (supply) • It is about me NOT wanting to give something (supply) • I am not sure what I really want or wanted You then identify what your outcome was or what you feel it will be in terms of giving and receiving The Outcome • Me receiving something I did NOT want to receive • Me NOT receiving something I want to receive • Me giving something I do NOT desire to give • Me NOT giving something I desire to give • Me unsure of what I am giving or receiving e.g. I wanted to receive acknowledgement from my friend, but I did not receive it. Out of our Role frame of reference we evaluate or determine the importance and urgency of getting what we want. ====================================== ASSIGNMENT What do you think are the distinguishing behaviours and characteristics of someone in consumer or receiver role frame of mind?
