02 REBT EMAIL approach


This option is a stepped REBT approach to help you discover troublesome irrational thinking that delivers inappropriate negative emotions and inappropriate and ineffective behaviours and reactions that reduce your quality of life. It is a website and email based structure. You work in your personal secure start page with cognitive work-forms and you will receive copies of all your work done at each step so that you can review them and learn to use the awareness and skills gained for other similar life issues.

The convenience of an email session means you can get to work immediately working on your upset issue in your own time, at your own pace, in your own place. There are no appointments to make, parking spots to find, being careful no one sees you going into a counseling office, transport to use etc.

If you are NEW to REBT and its approaches first you may benefit more from this process if you take time to work through those modules provided on this website for personal training and coaching in self-help cognitive work. The REBT Approach (the original cognitive-behavioural approach) is about surfacing distorted thinking patterns which are in the form of irrational beliefs, disputing or deconstructing them, then reforming and replacing them with more rational thinking that you then put into action.

Cognitive-Behavioural counsellors and therapists have known for a long time, the connection between thoughts and emotions. REBT works with the structure or pattern of your thoughts to make either inner or outer adjustments and influence your quality of life.

The steps to an REBT email session after you have registered as a client

STEP ONE - REBT JOURNAL: Using a structured REBT online journal form you work through to unpack your issue in the ABC format by writing it out in your secure form and then you send it to the counsellor. The aim is to target the core beliefs sitting with your emotional and/or behavioural upset.

STEP TWO - DISPUTE: You challenge your faulty thinking and arrive at alternatives.

STEP THREE - PLANS FOR ACTION: You are helped using various homework techniques to form a plan to assimilate your new rational belief.

AT ANY TIME you can initiate an online live session should it be needed by purchasing an online session to complement this work.

NOTE solving blocks and frustrations to your plan may require a session of its own where you specifically work the block before you return to the main plan. You may discover that in working the presenting issue, that other underlying issues are clarified and require specific work. REBT is well suited to progressively doing that. Each session will cost the same.
