This is a revisit of a previous Exercise to rework the material.
Exercise 13
Rework Exercise 6. Work out, in each case, what rule you are operating by and write down its number Note there are no right or wrong answers: this is just to give you practice in detecting underlying rules.
Exercise 6
This exercise will help you see how you tend to interpret and rate events and circumstances. For the next week or so, observe what happens around you, including what you see on television or read in the newspaper Record in a diary some of the things you react to, then for each one write down U) your interpretation, and (2) your rating. Here are some examples:
The EVENT: TV News: Interest rates are going up
My Interpretation: Our mortgage will increase
My Rating: It's not right
The EVENT: Watched documentary about smoking and cancer
My Interpretation: They've exaggerated the link between smoking and cancer
My Rating: They shouldn't be allowed to upset people by showing them this.
The EVENT: Had fight with son over homework
My Interpretation: I was unreasonable
My Rating: I'd do better to learn how to handle my temper
