To USE this Counselling and Psycho-Educational service you need to be aware that…:

• If you are under 16 years of age you will need verified parental consent


• Your address and contact information will need to be verified for legal purposes but such information will not be knowingly divulged to any third party unless required by law.


• Due to international constraints the counsellor will not have emergency services information from your country to be able to direct help to you if you are feeling suicidal or self-destructive and need an immediate intervention UNLESS you are in NEW ZEALAND. As such if you are feeling this way, please seek immediate assistance from emergency services near you.


• You will not be worked with if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs (this does not include prescribed meds from your GP or Clinical Professional);


• If you are being treated for serious clinical issues I will need your present therapist’s communication of permission for you to do so.


• You need to be the authorized user of the credit card you use or a New Zealand based client to use electronic bank transfer to pay for services provided.

NOTE: IF you are currently in therapy with other professional care you will need to indicate this to the Online Counsellor.

Disclaimer: The Counsellor is New Zealand based and subject to New Zealand law. His professional association is the New Zealand Association of Counsellors for the ethical and professional arrangements for oversight of counselling taking place through this internet media. His qualifications and training are all New Zealand based.

Working via Internet Media
Be aware that though much can be achieved via voice communication and via the written word in email, or via real-time text chat, there are however natural limits to working via Internet media if voice and visuals are excluded. Choosing to work via text only will require careful communication and clarification of terms. Enhancement of communication using voice or via voice and video camera can help reduce natural limits.

Legal Systems: In agreeing to work with the Online Counsellor, the client is acknowledging that this counsellor, John R. Turton, is subject to New Zealand Law and to New Zealand professional requirements for counselling as a member of the NZAC.

Privacy Policy: The Online Counsellor in assuring you that personal information is protected by firewalls, optimum anti-virus and spyware protection, a secure internet website section, and no one other than the Counsellor having access to the computer on which information is password-stored cannot guarantee security of information stored or conveyed by means other than his own systems. As such all information contained on our site remains confidential and will not be revealed to any other parties unless required by New Zealand Legal process.

Online Counsellor informs you the client that while he takes all reasonable care of information, the client is responsible for the secure storage and management of their own User IDs and passwords they hold and with which you access your personal page or message centre or other secure areas of our website secure server.
